Telavance was formed in 2010 to address significant gaps in the risk and compliance market. Its founders – Salvatore Cangialosi, Gokul Kallambunathil, Rama Pappu, and Mahesh Viswanathan – bring extensive experience to the firm. Salvatore Cangialosi previously established Prime Associates in 1982 where the firm emerged as a leading, worldwide provider of AML software solutions. Prime Associates was acquired by Metavante/FIS and it has formed the core offering of its AML strategy across a large number of financial institutions. Gokul Kallambunathil, Rama Pappu, and Mahesh Viswanathan were the prior founders of Idola Infotech. Idola was a leading advisory and software products implementation firm during the period of widespread AML system acquisitions (2002 through 2010).

Telavance has developed Advantage Detection Scenarios™, a new methodology for AML rules that were deployed at the bank. Advantage AKA™ is a much needed tool proactively developed by Telavance to meet the needs of financial institutions in appropriately addressing OFAC’s recent action with regard to “Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons (“SDN” List) Alias Screening Expectations” in a timely manner. As a Compliance Officer having responsibility for OFAC screening of all transactions associated with an Asian bank, where a high percentage of names of individuals and entities are derived from non-standard English, the number of false-positive matches to OFAC’s SDN list of AKA’s can be both overwhelming and time consuming.
